Three victories across the worldwide professional tours highlighted a breakthrough weekend for Pro V1 loyalists.
In 2010, Titleist golf ball players have recorded 106 total victories, more than five times the nearest competitor with 21. Over the last three weeks, Titleist golf ball players have earned 11 wins worldwide.
• Pro V1 loyalist John Parry became the third rookie to win on the European Tour this season, closing with consecutive 70s for a two-shot victory over Pro V1x loyalist Johan Edfors at the Vivendi Cup in Paris.
The win earned Parry a one-year European Tour exemption and moved him into the top 65 in the Race to Dubai rankings.
"I felt nervous and just tried to control my emotions," Parry, a teammate of Titleist Brand Ambassador Rory McIlroy in the 2007 Walker Cup, told EuropeanTour.com "I felt I was playing well though, and my concentration was good."
Parry was one of 75 players in the field that trusted Titleist golf balls, nearly four times the nearest competitor with 19.
• Pro V1 loyalist Nate Smith won his first Nationwide Tour title Sunday at the WNB Golf Classic.
Smith, a 2006 graduate of Duke, dropped a 35-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole at Midland (Texas) Country Club to shoot 6-under 66 and win by two shots. The victory moved him to No. 25 on the Nationwide Tour money list with five events left on the schedule.
"I don't know whether to cry or just scream, I'm just flooded with emotion right now," Smith told PGATour.com. "The first thing that comes to mind is all of the hard work and everything I've done to get to this point."
Smith was one of 99 players in the field that trusted Titleist golf balls, more than five times the nearest competitor with 18. Titleist also was first in Iron Sets (47); Sand, Lob and Approach Wedges (147) and Putters (61).
• For the second consecutive week, Pro V1 loyalist Russ Cochran found the winner's circle on the Champions Tour, winning wire-to-wire at the SAS Campionship.
Cochran closed in 1-under 71 at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, N.C., to hold on for a two-shot victory. He entered the final round with a four-shot lead following rounds of 64-67.
Prior to his back-to-back victories, Cochran had gone almost 20 years without a professional victory.
"I'm not used to a big lead, so I didn't know what to expect," Cochran told PGATour.com "I found out that you just need to play well regardless. It's not like I was ever a great winner. I'm still learning how to win right now."
Cochran was one of 56 players in the field that trusted Titleist golf balls, more than nine times the nearest competitor with 6. Titleist was also first in Iron Sets (27); and Sand, Lob and Approach Wedges (50).
• Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup finale, the Tour Championship, with 18 players, more than three times the nearest competitor with 5. Titleist also was first in Hyrbids (9); Iron Sets (10); and Sand, Lob and Approach Wedges (28).
