    1) when I've been lucky enough to receive a prototype ball from Titleist for testing, I go to the muni in the early am, hit drives with it and other balls and note the ball flight and distance, chart my chipping with the ball and do a putting comparison as well.

    2) I bought office windows for my laptop for the express purpose of tracking my golf stats.

    3) introduced my wife to the game and we spent our honeymoon driving down the California coast and played in each town we stayed and we are still happily married

    4) I like to clean my clubs the night before a round and lean them against my work bench, like a knight laying out his armour and weapons before a battle

    5) when a advertisement from Golf Mart or Golf Galaxy arrives, I'm as excited as my wife when she gets the Nordstrom ads.

    6) speaking of reading, after getting my golf magazine in the mail, nothing gets done until I've read it from cover to cover

    7) before I retired, I had an old 8802 putter in my office to practice putting

    8) the smell of cut grass is sublime to me

    9) I think a hot dog and a beer at the grill at my local course after a round tastes better than almost anything

    10) I think that comparing Dan Jenkins, James Dodson or Michael Hamburger to James Joyce, Hemingway or Faulkner is perfectly legitimate

    11) I believe that wearing a button down sweater doesn't make you a dork, it is a homage to Arnie

    12) one of the best jobs I ever had was when my Dad and I worked at the cart shed during the 1993 Tour Championship

Plenty of us out there too John. I got shot down by my wife when suggesting the names for our two daughters should be Brassie and Niblick.

My list, with the exception of #3 and #5. (#3) We compromise on events - some golf, some antique outlets on vacations. She was spared on the honeymoon, I didn't add golf as competition until after marriage. (#5) I used to, but between magazines and Titleist announcements, I am happier with my pro shop than large retailers. Since golf came later, I never suggested Ben, Arnie, or Jack as names for my sons.

Not me, I am retired and just do not worry about the small things in life. Life too short. Have plenty of time for golf trips and family trips with my lovely wife of forty years. We are heading to Australia soon and golf is not on this agenda. I go to the course, see ball hit ball and move on to next hole. Work on game when I need to. Play in area senior tournaments during the season. Only statistic I maintain, I have a GHIN handicap for entering tournaments. I buy all my equipment thru one Titleist authorized dealer/fitter near my home. Do not shop at big box stores. We all have our own quirks.

Yeah sounds like we are all golf geeks. Do you geek out on equipment or golf instruction as well?

I see my teacher (former LPGA player Jenny Park-Choi) in the spring for a lesson and then others if necessary.
  8. I like it! Sounds very familiar. Of course half the time I come home from work and my son is reading the GOLF magazine before I can (raised him well I guess). We love to head out a play around on the practice facility hitting different shots using different balls and clubs

I'd add one to the list. The PGA Professional at your local course or driving range is one of your closest friends.
