I want to be properly fitted for a Titleist golf ball. Can you tell me when and where the next Titleist Ball Fitting event will take place in the San Francisco Bay Area?

Current list of scheduled events and locations in the link i am sending below. Limited resources makes it hard to expect it to be expanded too much beyond this list and the longer these new balls are in the market, the lower the demand for initial fittings. Might just want to get a sleeve of 3 balls in each model you are interested in and doing an on-course assessment of your own. I did the formal ball fitting at the Pinehurst Short Game Experience last month and while it was great, the outcome matched the information I was getting from the website "ball selection tool" and my visual observations. I have just been too stubborn to switch from ProV1 to ProV1x because of the difference in feel. The fitting just pounded home the fact that I need to switch and just get used to the firmer ProV1x feel.

Same result here Dale. The fitter told me that the X would get me more spin. Explained to here that I was switching clubs this fall and going to a lighter shaft to create higher loft. Sticking with the Prov1 in that I have worked hard to dial all my clubs in with that ball in regards to my yardage. See how it goes with the new clubs. Have ten dozen Prov1s on the shelve and I don't loose a lot of balls. Is that a bad thing????? =)

I was hoping a Titleist staff member would reply... I’ve looked at the schedule of events and there isn’t anything listed. I’ve also been to TPI twice and told the ProV1X is the ball I should use. However, I like a lower flight and less spin, so I use the ProX1. I want to re-evaluate what ball I should use with an expert eye and Trackman validation.

You can’t argue with the results and numbers you get when completing a formal golf ball fitting. Obviously there are differences between the V1 and the X. But for me, feel and trajectory are very important factors. I’ve been told by a Titleist fitter that I would benefit from more spin offered by the X. I played both balls for several weeks with minimal distance or height differences or overall score differences. On course testing has shown me that the ProV1 is the best ball for my game. My comfort level and confidence level with the ProV1 are the highest.

Besides checking this website for dates, you may want to get on the mailing lists of local courses (up to 30 miles away) that promote Titleist products. I've seen events for ball fittings not listed here that were published locally.

As it turns out, comparison use on my own on course got me to the same results as a fitting. I gave all 3 urethane balls an unbiased trial. The one I like to watch on a clean strike was the one the Trackman recommended. Which the fitter set me up blind, not telling me which ball I was hitting.
