Wiesberger's Playoff Victory at the Scottish Open Highlights 4-Win Week For Titleist Players

The winning ways continued around the globe for Titleist this week, as players trusting their games to Titleist golf balls and golf clubs triumphed at four tournaments across the worldwide professional golf tours.

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

Bernd Wiesberger captured his second European Tour title of the season, edging in an all- Titleist Pro V1 playoff in the final tournament before the last major of the season, this wek's Open Championship. Wiesberger heads into Royal Portrush in top form, having also finished runner-up just the week before at the Irish Open.

• Also capturing her second victory of the season, Sei Young Kim closed with a 6-under 65 to win the LPGA's Marathon Classic by two strokes.

• On the Korn Ferry Tour, TItleist Brand Ambassador Nelson Ledesma won the TPC Colorado CHampionship in dramatic fashion, birdieing the 72nd hole to win by one shot over fellow Pro V1 player, Brett Coletta.

• And in Canada, Paul Barjon also doubled up, winning his second event of the season on the PGA TOUR Mackenzie - Canada, as he enjoyed a three-shot victory at the Osprey Valley Open and jumped into the No. 1 spot on the Order of Merit.

All told, players trusting their games to a Titleist golf ball have now collected 112 wins across the worldwide professional tours. That's more than five times the nearest competing brand with just 20 and more than all competing brands combined.

It was an all-Pro V1 playoff at the Scottish Open, where Titleist Brand Ambassador Bernd Wiesberger topped Benjamin Hebert with a par on the third extra hole. The victory was the second of the season for Wiesberger who captured the Made in Denmark in May.

The Austrian was also runner-up at last week’s Irish Open and has vaulted to the top of the Race to Dubai Rankings.

Hebert set the clubhouse target at 22-under 262 following a final round 9-under-par 62. Wiesberger joined him with a closing 69. In Round 2 action, Wiesberger fired a 10-under-par 61 to take the early tournament lead.

Hebert earned a spot in next week’s Open Championship for his performance. He will be joined by two other qualifiers from this event, including Wiesberger’s fellow Titleist ambassador Andrew Johnston (Pro V1, TS3 driver, TS2 fairway metal, 718 AP2/2-3 irons, 718 MB/4-9 irons, Vokey Design SM7 pitching, gap and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter). “Beef” was one of five players to share fourth place, three shots out of the playoff. He carded the lowest round of his European Tour career on Sunday, firing a 9-under-par 62 to race 34 spots up the leaderboard.

The win is the 13th for Titleist golf ball players on the 2019 European Tour, more than all other golf balls combined.

Titleist was once again the most popular golf ball choice among players at the Scottish Open,with 100 players in the 156-man field trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, more than four times the nearest competitor with 22 players and more than all other competitor brand golf balls combined.

The recent tour introduction of the new U-500 and U-510 utility irons contributed to Titleist topping the player count at this week’s Scottish Open with 45 utilities in play. Titleist was also the field favorite in fairway metals (54), irons (45) and wedges (222).

Sei Young Kim (Pro V1) captured her ninth career LPGA Tour title on Sunday, winning the Marathon Classic by two shots. Kim, who owned a one shot lead to start the final round, carded five straight birdies from holes 7 through 11 to increase her margin to five strokes. Kim closed with a 6-under-par 65 en route to a 22-under 262 victory total.

In May, Kim won the LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship. She was also the LPGA’s Rookie of the Year in 2015 and has won at least once in each of her first five seasons on tour.

Kim’s win marks the 13th for Titleist players on the 2019 LPGA Tour, 10 more than the nearest competitor with 3.

Marathon Classic

Titleist was the overwhelming field favorite in golf balls at the Marathon Classic with 82% of the field of 136 (112 players) relying on a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, more than 12 times the nearest competitor with 7% (9 players).

Titleist Brand Ambassador Nelson Ledesma (Pro V1) birdied the 72nd hole to capture the TPC Colorado Championship by one shot over Brett Coletta (Pro V1). The pair was tied entering the final round, with Ledesma closing with a 2-under-par par 70 en route to a 15-under 273 victory total.

The win is the 15th for Titleist golf ball players on the 2019 Korn Ferry Tour, five times the nearest competitor with 3.

Titleist was the most relied-upon golf ball in the field of 156 with 69% (107 players) relying on a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, more than five times the nearest competitor with 12% (19 players).

Titleist was also the top choice in the driver (44), hybrid (35), utility iron (42), iron (48), wedge (231) and putter (52) categories.
