3 Things You Need to Know About Pro V1x Left Dash

Golfer Raising a Pro V1x Left Dash Golf Ball

If you're like most golfers, you'd probably love a few more yards off the tee. The problem is, you don't want to sacrifice. You don't want to give up the high level of performance in other phases of your game that you've come to expect from Pro V1, Pro V1x and AVX.

Well, in case you're not aware, Titleist has a fourth option that may be the answer - Pro V1x Left Dash.

1. Pro V1x Left Dash Began as a Titleist CPO

Left Dash started as a CPO model (Custom Performance Option) on the PGA Tour. The majority of players on the worldwide professional tours fit into our stock Pro V1 and Pro V1x products, but CPOs are Titleist golf ball models designed by Golf Ball R&D to offer specific performance variations compared to Pro V1 and Pro V1x.

"CPO models are designed to fit players with very distinct needs and preferences," said Fordie Pitts, Titleist's Tour Consultant for Golf Ball R&D. "They might launch in a slightly different window to fit a player's eye, offer slightly more or less spin, or feel softer or firmer. CPOs give us more tools in the toolbox to optimize and personalize performance for every player we work with on tour."

These custom models appear on the USGA conforming golf ball list (with slight modifications to the Pro V1 and Pro V1x side stamp), but typically, they are only produced in small quantities, for tour use only.

2. Left Dash is Titleist's Longest Premium Performance Golf Ball

Pro V1x Left Dash is for players who prioritize distance, particularly off the driver. It features flight characteristics very similar to Pro V1x (high flight), but in a higher compression design, with less spin and a firmer feel than both Pro V1 and Pro V1x.

Titleist R&D originally suspected that Left Dash would suit a small segment of aggressive, fast-swinging players, but they discovered something different in early prototype testing. Many players from across the board saw gains in ball speed and driver distance. In the iron game, because of its steep angle of descent, players were still able to hold greens effectively with mid- and long-iron approach shots. R&D had anticipated the firmer feel and lower spin of Left Dash might be less desirable for many golfers, but a large percentage of the players who tested the ball commented that Left Dash still felt soft and responsive and it provided very manageable spin and control in the short game.

The new design turned out to benefit such a significant range of golfers that it made sense to make Left Dash available to the general public, as well as players on tour. So, in the fall of 2019, limited quantities of Pro V1x Left Dash hit the shelves in golf shops and on MyTitleist.com.

Today, Pro V1x Left Dash is an official addition to our premium golf ball line-up, offering golfers even more performance options among our top-tier products that feature Titleist's multi-layer construction and cast urethane cover technologies.
