Poston, Shibuno, Blair and Conradie Top Leaderboards in 4-Win Week for Titleist Players

Weekly Highlights

It was a weekend of firsts for all of the Titleist players who found the winners’ circle on Sunday…

J.T. Poston captured his first career PGA TOUR title at the Wyndham Championship where he went bogey-free for the entire 72-holes of the tournament and carded a 22-under par 258 victory total.

• Participating in her first major championship, and her first professional event outside of Japan, 20-year-old Hinako Shibuno, captured the AIG Women’s British Open for her first major title.

Zac Blair recorded his first Korn Ferry Tour victory at the Ellie Mae Classic, winning by a shot to secure his place among the 25 players who will earn their cards on the PGA TOUR for the 2019 – 20 season.

Ruan Conradie claimed his maiden Sunshine Tour title in South Africa with a one-shot victory.

• For the second time this season, the Titleist brand swept all eight major equipment categories on both the PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour in the same week. It is an achievement that had never been accomplished until Titleist made history by sweeping the Travelers Championship and Wichita Open in June. The eight major tee-through-green equipment categories include golf balls, drivers, fairway metals, hybrids, utility irons, irons, wedges and putters.

• Titleist players have captured a total of 126 victories across the worldwide professional tours this season. That’s more than five times the nearest competing brand with just 21 and more than all competing brands combined.

• The ball count for the 2018-19 season also checks in at 17,555 players trusting a Titleist for their success across the worldwide professional tours. That’s more than eight times the nearest competing brand with just 2,1118 and more than all competing brands combined.

PGA TOUR

It was a Titleist Brand Ambassador 1-2-3 finish at the regular season-ending Wyndham Championship, where Titleist Brand Ambassador J.T. Poston earned his first career PGA TOUR victory. Poston finished one shot clear of Webb Simpson and two better than Ben An and three shots clear of Viktor Hovland (Pro V1) who finished solo 4th.

Closing with a career-best eight-under par 62 en route to a tournament record-tying 22-under 258 victory total, Poston became the first player since 1974 to win a 72-hole stroke-play event on tour without any bogeys or worse.

Eleven of the 12 players who finished among the top 10 and ties trusted Titleist golf balls for their success, and so did every other player who finished in the top 35. That’s 34 of the top 35 finishers teed up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x with so much on the line at the PGA TOUR’s regular season finale.

Poston’s win advances the 2018-19 PGA TOUR victory total for Titleist golf ball players to 23, nearly four times the nearest competitor (6) and more than all other golf balls combined. A total of 120 (77%) players teed up a Titleist at the Wyndham Championship, more than eight times the nearest competitor with 14.

This week 120 players in the field of 156 teed up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball. That’s nearly nine times the nearest competitor with 14 and more than all competing brands combined.

Titleist was also the #1 choice among players in drivers (52), fairway metals (61) , hybrids (26), utility irons (39), and irons (51).

Vokey Design Wedges also topped the approach, sand and lob wedge category with 229 in play.

The marks the 11th time this season where Titleist was the top choice across every equipment category. The other tournaments in which Titleist has topped every major equipment category include: 3M Open, Rocket Mortgage Classic, Travelers Championship, AT&T Byron Nelson, Wells Fargo Championship, Corales Puntacana Championship, Valspar Championship, Honda Classic, Farmers Insurance Open and Sony Open in Hawaii.

LPGA

Participating in her first major championship, and her first professional event outside of Japan, 20-year-old Hinako Shibuno (Pro V1), captured the AIG Women’s British Open by one shot over Lizette Salas (Pro V1x).

Shibuno, who has won twice as a rookie on the Japan LPGA Tour this season, fired four consecutive rounds in the 60s en route to an 18-under 270 victory total. Highlighting the stellar play was her final nine holes where she only needed 31 strokes including a dramatic tournament-clinching birdie on the final hole.

Salas closed with a Sunday-best seven-under par 65 to race up the leaderboard for her runner-up finish. Jin Young Ko (Pro V1) completed the 1-2-3 Titleist finish, one shot behind Salas. Ko captured her second major of the season at last week’s Evian Championship.

Shibuno’s win marks the 17th by Titleist players on the 2019 LPGA Tour, more than five times the nearest competitor (3).

Titleist was the overwhelming field favorite in golf balls with 118 (82%) players, more than 13 times the nearest competitor (9).

KORN FERRY

Zac Blair (Pro V1x Yellow) recorded his first Korn Ferry Tour victory at the Ellie Mae Classic, winning by a shot to secure his PGA TOUR card for next season - moving from 31st to 10th in the standings prior to next week’s regular season finale.

Blair fired four consecutive rounds in the 60s to post a 17-under 263, one shot clear of Brandon Crick (Pro V1x).

The top 25 money leaders following next week’s Portland Open earn PGA Tour cards while 25 more cards will be available during the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, which begin in two weeks.

This week 112 players in the field teed up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball. That’s seven times the nearest competitor with 16 and more than all competing brands combined.

Titleist was also the #1 choice among players in drivers (47), fairway metals (56) , hybrids (25), utility irons (62), and irons (57).

Vokey Design Wedges also topped the approach, sand and lob wedge category with 241 in play.

Scotty Cameron putters where also the top choice with 55 putters in play.

This marks the fourth time this season on the Korn Ferry Tour that Titleist has swept the counts.

Ruan Conradie (Pro V1) claimed his maiden Sunshine Tour title with a one-shot victory over three fellow Titleist golf ball loyalists Paul Boshoff (Pro V1), Jaco Van Zyl (Pro V1x) and Anthony Michael (Pro V1) at the Royal Swazi Spa Challenge.

Conradie started the tournament with a first round 11-under par 61 and closed with a final round six-under par 66 to card an 18-under 198 victory total.
