    All,

I was recently fitted for a CB 2-iron that is 2 degrees upright.

I bought my Vokey wedges about a year and a half ago.  They are standard lie, but I did not get fitted for them.  I just bought them.  Should I have them done 2 degrees upright as well or are they that much different.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Joey,

I would have a Club Fitter put some lie tape on the sole of your wedges to check and see if the lies need to be adjusted.  Sometimes you will find that the standard lie in your wedges is fine, even when your irons call for 28 upright.

get them fitted. I would say that about 75% of my wedge fittings end up being at least two degrees flatter than the 6 iron specs. Depends on the player, their style of play, skill level.... but an incorrect lie angle with a 56* wedge is going to cause a huge misdirection.  Maybe as much as 20 ft on a 100 yard shot!  Get em fitted outdoors, off of grass with options of different lie angles to hit. DO NOT try to do this on a mat hitting into a net, for crying out loud!!!

Okay, so I went on Saturday morning to get these checked out.  I know that one of you mentioned that I should not get fitted indoors, but that is my only option around here.

I did work something out.  The guys that I deal with are awesome and very helpful.  I was able to see what I needed to check and go to the range and get the results that I needed to get my irons adjusted.  He is going to work on them now.

It also helps that I was in the market for a new 4-wood as well.  He was able to set me up one of those based on the launch monitor and let me take that to the range with me so I could make sure that I liked it.  I also found out that the current 4-wood that I use was not built properly.  The person that I bought it from changed the shaft in it and it was done really wrong.  That was news to me and at least I feel better about it.

Anyhow, I do need the wedges upright and I am ordering a new 4-wood today.

    Here's my iron setup - 7 iron 1/2* upright, 8 iron down to lob wedge 1* upright (I have 1* separation between 7 and 8, 1/2 between 8 and 9 and 9 iron down are @ 65*).  I hit everything perfect.

I had the lie angle checked on my 50 because I had been having problems with full swing shots.   It was 64.  I had it set to 65 and I started hitting beautiful clean straight shots.  The only adjustment was taking a shorter follow thru on pitches and not turning the club over.

My sand wedge was always at 64.5 but found that 65 works better overall now.
