I was fit at a Titleist Advanced Fitting Center and recommended 712 AP2 irons with DG X100 shafts, standard length and loft and a lie angle of 4 degrees up.  I purchased those irons in that set up and have played with them for roughly 2 months.  I am hitting the irons well and I love the feel, but my issue is that my ball flight is very high and with any wind the ball is getting swallowed up which is becoming very frustrating especially considering the money that I spent on my iron set.  Not sure if this information will help but other results from the iron fitting were:  Ball speed 130;  Launch Angle 17;  Spin Rate 6200

Any suggestions on what I can do to bring down my ball flight?

You'll have to hear from TT about your options for a reshaft.  In the meantime, you might want to look at some balls that promote a penetrating flight.  Velocity would be one of the Titleist options.

Where are you hitting it on the face? What is your divot pattern? Ball flight?

What iron do those numbers go with?

    I believe Titleist says 3000 with 3i.........6000 with 6i

But ball speed and launch angle are the key factors to determine correct spin rate.

With a fitting you can maximize distance and control for a swing technique.......1 swing technique under 1 set of conditions

When another set of conditions occur the swing technique needs to change.

If you try setting the club up for hitting into the wind, then you won't be happy with the results hitting downwind or no wind.

So you set the club up best for no wind conditions then you use technique to flight the ball down when needed.

    Hi Tim,

Have you contacted your fitter?  We would recommend going back to your fitter and having him/her take a look at your ball flight.  Once you decide on a course of action, they can give us a call at Team Titleist and we can help.   Your numbers are probably from your 6 iron and they are a little high on the launch, but the spin numbers are within range and the ball speed would be in the range of a 165 or so driver ball speed.

Thanks for the feedback.  Bryan Haas was my fitter so I will give him a call and see if he can take a look at my ball flight.  To answer the questions from Joe B. at the Glen Club...I am hitting it pretty much in the middle of the face or slightly towards the heel, my divot pattern is straight to slightly left and my ball flight is high.

Yes, these numbers were with a 712 AP2 6 iron.

Change of subject, If I was to de-lofted my AP2  712 irons, how many degrees should I go before the club would dig to much? Looking to de-lofted every club

4 iron to 3 iron loft.....5 to 4....and so on.

    Thanks,
