Titleist clubs are all gender neutral. They will build drivers, fairways, and irons, to a person's specifications in size and strength. The off-the-shelf clubs in stores are priced the same as factory orders so get with a fitter to determine what specs are needed and get a driver made. Well worth waiting a few weeks. You may also see used clubs being sold as "women's" but they have the same heads as men's, just shorter lengths and lighter flex.

How long would you recommend playing before getting fitted? I mean, doesn't the player have to get comfortable in swing and grip first?

As Dale said, please see a fitter. The myth of "women's" clubs needs to disappear. What is more important is matching the loft and shaft to the individual golfer. I have fitted older players with L (traditionally known as Ladies) flex shafts and I have also fitted a number of ladies with anything from S to A flex driver shafts.

Got my wife in to golf last week.
And been teaching her the basics, she has had a few lessons as a kid but never continued now she really enjoys it.

However as a starter set she took her mother’s box set women’s set.
After hitting driver a few times I thought i’d let her hit my 915 D2 with stiff 70 gram shaft. Hit that way better so she will be gaming that now. So yeah don’t go standard women marketed gear, get fitted.

My wife wasn't offered an option of a boxed set. I refused to buy a driver labeled 1 Wood. e-bay may list Titleist drivers as "women's" but will typically be a 10.5/12 degree head on an L-flex shaft that will be 44-44.25 inches instead of 45 stock length. Ordering from Titleist through your retailer, the head weight will be adjusted to a specified swing weight, generally around C-10 instead of a weightier D-2. All can be specified to the individual.

Hi, New to golf also. Wife is joining me and looking for clubs. I understand that the clubs really need to be adjusted for body size, swing speed ect.. But in regards to finding a fitter. How do I know if the fitter is qualified? Thanks, Kevin

Kevin, any would be better than none. That said, follow the link on the Titleist website for a certified Titleist fitter in your area. Even better if you can find one of the free Titleist Thursday's near you.

Without a big investment look for used higher lofted drivers from the 910 to 915 line.
All are great clubs and make awesome starter drivers for someone on a budget...once you have a club find a local club builder to replace the shaft with a good shaft. I have done this with great success for my son.
