New Irons to Replace DCI Oversized

    I have been playing DCI oversized Irons since College and love them. Recently my family wanted to give me new clubs for my 50th birthday. I went to PGA Superstore and got fitted. Originally I got the T150 Irons but my dispersion is far worse with them than my old irons. Misses feel very dead as well. They are letting me try a t200 iron, but I feel the distance varies on shots, dispersion is okay, still get a dead feel on misses but not as bad, and my ball flight is lower than DCI and T150. I have been playing with the new clubs for 2 months, hit thousands of balls. Nothing feels as good as the DCI. I do lose a club distance with DCI but gain control and feel. Getting fairly frustrated. I am a 5 handicap. I feel this shouldn't be that hard to switch clubs. Any recommendations?

    Did you try the T350's? I moved from T200 and improved flight and dispersion from previous irons.

    New may not be for everyone. While the majority of us enjoy the upgrades and make the transition, some people do not. Even a few tour pros like Cantlay and Stricker have kept playing older models. You might consider having them fully refurbished to ensure grooves are good, shafts are what you need which might address the distance loss, and new epoxy will hold up for the next 20 years.

    Maybe it's the shafts? I was fitted recently, i normally play the Project X 6.0. On the 3 and 4 iron i decided to go with the t150, the rest of the set are the 620MBs. I thought of trying the Project X IO and everything was leaking left for some reason. We decided to soft step the regular Project X and it's supposed to be lighter, which i can't feel, but it does go higher than the regular 6.0.

    Hi, it is not always easy to change irons.
    I think that the shaft selected maybe is not giving you the full potential of this iron.
    DCI oversized was a forgiveness club, with a bigger head.
    T150 has excellent reviews but need to be hit in center or near center. This is where the shaft could help you. Take a particular attention to the weight of the shaft, the flex and where the shaft is flexing. This is were a good fitter could help.
    Titleist is offering a very vast choice of shaft. For me Nippon Modus 105 or KBS Ctaper lite are winners.

    For me T100 gives a better dispersion. It is a personal taste.
