Well, back from another great trip to Bandon. The picture below shows the two ProV1x’s that I used. The yellow one on the first day at Trails and the white one for the other three courses. 72 holes of golf and no lost balls. I have pictures posted on the TT community site on Facebook and also a detailed summary under the “files” tab on that site. Just booked December 2020 for our usual group. Anyone wanted to join us, just call and book your rooms and tee times. We have early starts on 12/17 Pacific, 12/18 Sheep Ranch, 12/19 Bandon Dunes, and 12/20 Old Mac. We will add Trails as a replay round on the day with the best weather. Come join us.

    Well played sir.
I’d think the yellow would be good in the “flat light” and overcast days?
When you’re on property out there, do you prefer to stay in one area over another?

Yes, I used the yellow the first day because we were playing in a light rain and slight fog. On the second question, I prefer the Inn. Read my summary on the Facebook post.

Bandon Dunes just released the logo for the Sheep Ranch. Check it out at their website. Still on schedule for it's June opening. Can't wait to see it in October at the Team Titleist Invitational. Bumped my regular December trip there a year to December 2021 since we will be there in October along with the rescheduled Sand Valley trip. Already getting excited for fall golf.

Went to Bandon for the first time last season. I cannot believe there is a better golf trip in the world. The TT Event this fall will be spectacular. We played 36/day for 4 days. Playing the phenomenal courses at different times (morning/afternoon) to get the full experience. Everything: courses, caddies, accommodations, practice area, food was all fantastic. Make sure to charge the phone every night. You will be taking a lot of pics!

Anyone get the July update for TT this year yet? Am registered and really want to attend but the COVID trends are not great.

Very hopeful for October. Bandon has been doing a great job with protective play since they reopened late May. Biggest impact currently is their restaurants and we would not be able to do our socials the same way unless things change for the better in the next several months. Probably early September will give us the best idea of on/off/or modified.

    Well done, especially on Trails.

I go with a group of 12 to Bandon in the first week of November every year. Our first round this year is on the Sheep Ranch, then Pacific Dunes and Bandon Dunes. We play one round a day for three days with the exception of one day where we play the Preserve in the afternoon.

My need to increase the trip to 4 days so we can get in a Trails or Old Mac round too.

    GMcClanahan,
I have looked at going to BD in November. Since you go every year at that time, what is the weather like there on the coast?

Jerry, in case you don't get a answer about November, I have gone on Thanksgiving weekend but usually early to mid December. I have also been in January and February. The weather has been pretty much the same every time. You don't get the super strong winds you get from the summer but probably more rain. I have never been when it rained all day, every day but that could happen. We have seen early morning frost delays but also afternoons where we had to peel off layers to regular shirts. Typically have at least one day where the rain gear gets used. We have had rounds where we have put it on and taken it off 3 or 4 times. I just approach it as part of the scottish charm. Plan for rain and it makes the pretty days even better. It's hard to beat the super low prices during the late Nov to Jan timeframe. Flying into Portland I have run into snow along the freeway but you get out of it once you get near the coastline. It may be snowing and 30 in Portland but Bandon is usually in the 40's or low 50's with light rain when that happens.

    Jerry,

Apologies for the delayed response. My trip is the first week of November every year, so we get the benefit of pretty good weather. I hear the worst weather is in December/January, which is when room rates and green fees are the lowest. The temperatures may be as low as high 40s on the morning, and it has been as warm as mid 60s on some trips. But predominantly, temps are in the 50s for our trip, with wind around 10-15mph. Very heavy sea level air so I lose at least a club in distance. I actually like the typical weather as it seems fitting for seaside links golf.

Our trip is three days and it seems like we get one day of great weather, sometimes almost no wind. And the other 2 days are the typical weather as noted above. You should be prepared for rain but it seems to move through very quickly when it does rain. Very rarely has it rained for an entire round and if you have good rain gear and use rain gloves, it’s not a big deal. And again, it makes you feel like you are playing in a British Open.

One year we had a round with rain and winds up to “gale force.” That was the hardest round of golf I have ever played. It actually started sleeting too, with gusts over 30mph. But that was one day out of 20plus rounds over the years. So definitely an anomaly for November.

I think November is a great time to go. Not quite as many people at the resort and you get some good weather. Only downside is daylight savings time makes it difficult to get in two rounds In a day. I hear in the summer when it is warmer, there is more wind.

I see you are from Dallas, and I live in Plano. It’s not very easy to get to Bandon from here, and getting home is even harder. I have gotten there every possible way you can. It is so worth the effort. I cannot even put into words how great the courses are, and the overall experience at the resort is as good as customer service gets.

    Regards

Jerry, also a source of info is a review I wrote last year and posted on the Facebook Team Titleist Community. If you go there (join if you have not already) and under the main site page you will see categories like announcements and photos. Go to the link that is titled "files" and click on The Bandon Experience. Click on the picture of the Bandon Pine at the front entrance and it will open the post. Enjoy.

Half the fun in my opinion. If it was next to a big city, it would be even more packed. I kind of like the trek to the place, except maybe those couple of times when it was snowing from Portland to Drain. Pretty drive on Highway 38 from Drain to Reedsport. Love stopping short of Reedsport at the Elk viewing area.

Steve, I agree. Mike Keiser's courses are not easy to get to. Bandon, Sand Valley and especially Cabot Links!
I've been to all 3. Unless you have a private jet!!! Now I just need to win the big lottery!! HA!

He is currently building a 4th destination in San Lucia.

    Dale,
Good point. If it were near major population. it would be packed. I know the drive from Halifax to Inverness in October was nothing short of spectacular! Gorgeous to say the least.

We have a group of 12 going to Bandon early September. The main concern about the trip is the hang after golf. Has anyone been recently? wondering if the restaurants, bars and drink service at the Punch Bowl are tightly restricted.

    Thanks

Some info on their website about limited dining with less tables than usual and more spread out. Need to make sure you do reservations for dining. I think they are discouraging big gatherings and the bars are closed but I know medium and large groups are still happening. They are still hosting the US Amateur so that will have a lot of players and USGA organizers on site. I would expect it to be a bit different than usual but still doable. Still some great golf, even with limited socializing. Have fun!

Steve, notice went out pretty early this year, I think it was back in February or March and due to popularity, filled up really quickly. If you go to the top of the website under Team Titleist and pull down the menu options you will see "events" on the left side. Click on events and then click on the 'sold out" button. It should take you to the wait list in case some decide to drop out.

It's under Team Titleist/Events. Unfortunately both events in October have been sold out for quite some time.

My Bandon trip is a little less than 3 months out so we took a roll call of who is going. As Dale noted, restuarants have reduced capacity and the Bunker Bar is closed. So off the golf course activities will be scaled back. And we are doing separate rooms, which I hope becomes a trend since I always get paired with someone that snores.
Everyone is going so should be a great trip. We play the Sheep Ranch in our first round, can't wait for that.

A few of us are going to stay over the last night and play Old Mac before we hit the airport. Will get 5 of the 6 courses on one trip.

I live in Dallas so I am flying through SFO and then into North Bend, which is about 30 miles from the resort.
