TT family. I have had a reservation at Cabot Links/Cliffs for a while now. Since air travel to Canada from the US is now possible, I have booked my flight. Getting to Halifax around 1PM on October 14. Playing Cliffs on Friday, Links on Saturday and travel back on Sunday. My other players have all dropped out so before changing my reservation from 4 to 1, just wanted to see if anyone here wanted to join me? Three nights and two rounds of golf. Casual play from the middle tees for me. If interested, email me at 2vinsons@cox.net. I will tell Cabot to change my reservation to each additional player’s name and copy you on the messages so you can then coordinate with Cabot on your deposit and contact info. This will relieve me from obligations in case of late cancelations or other issues. I have until the end of August to firm this up so if interested, contact me soon.

I've heard nothing by great things about Cabot. As much as I'd LOVE to join you, there are two problems on my end:

    1. expired passport
    2. I'm a CPA and filing deadlines are October 15 for returns on extension.

Good luck finding another body or three.

I was fortunate to play at Bandon a few years back and given the same owner, it should be sweet. Yes, I'm jealous

Got an email from them that they have now opened a nine hole par three course. Really enjoyed our visit there a few years ago, except for my bad back. Still hurts even after surgery. Old age s***s.

It's actually a 10-Hole course, not a 9-Hole course. They call it The Nest. $50 to play it or $45 to replay one of the regular 18-Hole courses... Not sure I understand their pricing model. I'll have to ask them about it when I get there. At least Bandon's "Preserve" uses some of their green fee to fund local conservation. Sand Valley's Sand Box is also $50 but you get 17 holes and their full course replay rate is $85 so it's a better deal to hit the Par-3 course in the afternoon. Not sure that's the case at Cabot, even if you can't get a full 18 holes completed before dark. Oh well, they will get it figured out eventually.

Did not know that was a bad word. An expression of disappointment an exclamation of defiance or derision.

Well, WestJet cancelled the flights and Delta could not find an alternative that would work so looks like the trip is off. Maybe 2022 will be the year I finally get Cabot off the bucket list. 2020 and 2021 didn't work out so great. :(

Sorry to hear that Dale. I used Air Canada from DFW-Toronto-Halifax when I went.

Yeah Jerry, its a bit tougher coming all the way from San Diego. I was driving up to LAX and catching an overnight with only one stop in Toronto and then on to Halifax mid-day so plenty of light to drive to Cabot. They were offering to send me out a day earlier with almost a full day airport layover but worse was getting into Halifax at night and then driving in the dark to Cabot. Return was a problem too which was now adding another day. The problem is limited flights by all airlines in and out of Halifax these days. American Airlines stopped all their flights to Halifax in 2021. Hopefully it will pick up in 2022 with more options. I will look at it again in January and decide if I want to book for October 2022.

Dale, I would not want to drive at night on Cape Breton Island. Roads are nice but narrow (two lanes) and winding.
Seems like there were all sorts of things working against you. Good luck in 2022!

Sorry just saw this. Cabot sounds fun. Seems like it would be cold in those parts that time of the year. I guess the experience is worth a bit of suffering in the frigid weather. I know its late but if you still have spots let me know.
    Steve

BTW I live in Carlsbad and if you want it would be fun to meet up and play and talk future travel? Let me know.

So reading further I see you canceled. Sorry about that. I'd be in the next time if you were looking for players. In the meantime let me know if you want to hit some balls around sometime. I'm pretty close by. Steve

Yes, and so glad we finally made it there. You can see my pictures and videos from Cabot on the Team Titleist Facebook Group page. Season ends this week but there's always next year.

Not only happy you finally made it there Dale, but also that I was the fortunate soul that had the pleasure of joining you. Thank you very much for the great experience and friendship.

Making trips to these epic locations is great but getting to go with my TT friends makes it so much more special. So glad it worked out that we were able to experience the charm and beauty of Cabot together.

I was there back in 2021 in October for 4 days....1st day was fine. 2nd day was ok. 3rd day was windy (20-25mph).
4th day was very difficult (Cold 50 degrees, Wind 25-30mph, Blowing light rain for about half the round)
If I ever go back again I will think about going earlier in the year....it is more expensive but it sure beats the last 2 days I experienced.

Cabot, much like Bandon, can be unpredictable any time of the year. That's what makes it so much like Scottish golf. Never go to either location without jackets and rain gear.

Would love to hear everyone's experience at Cabot. A group of 4 of us have a trip planned in May. Playing Cliffs first day and 36 on the second day. Recommendations, tips, comments are welcome!

Wish I saw Dale's post sooner and joined him this year.

Maybe Cabot St. Lucia in 2024?

The Cliffs is one of my favorite courses in the world. Would recommend Cabot is anyone looking for an ultimate golfing experience. Would say the weather up there in October could be very fickle. Same as Ireland.
