The first question I would ask before giving a recommendation, how do you plan on getting around with regards to transportation?

Hermitage and Gaylord are the solid choices and closest to downtown with the exception of the Metro courses. How far out will they book? I don't know but they stay slammed.

Next question I guess would be, what quality of golf do you want and what tier? It varies here for sure, just like everywhere else. If expectations are low, you're just there for the outing, you have transportation, then a more developed answer can be given.

We'll be staying downtown and Ubering around, so ideally within 30-45 minutes of downtown.

Typically I try to keep the round under $150 for greens fees and cart, but we can go up if we need to. We're a bunch of mid-caps that enjoy a challenge - beverages will be had but golf is our priority.

We don't need anything impeccable, but on a five star scale I'd say 3.5 is a minimum with 4 being the sweet spot.

For the quality golf experience then, start with the aforementioned Hermitage GC or Gaylord Springs. Within the budget, the amenities are outstanding, but might be a little slow and crowded.

Expand past that to Twelve Stones in Goodlettsville, Legacy in Springfield, Greystone in Dickson or for city owned golf, start with McCabe Golf Course.

The first two will certainly exceed your goals, traffic here has become impossible so keep that in mind. Both of those courses have hosted the LPGA and Senior tour respectively so they are a real treat and you'll enjoy them.
