    When will this rain stop, courses are being shut so much, thankfully where i play has managed to keep it open on main greens most weekends but protecting it during the week!

    Green keepers are doing a great job, but i have not known it like this before.

    Fortunately the club I have recently joined (East Brighton Golf Club) is chalk downland and drains well! They've been doing well with the maintenance.

    Some of the other local courses I've visited haven't held up well at all though. Though they're relatively low cost to play.

    It’s very frustrating, I think our course has been closed more than it has been open. Really feel for the green keepers.

    Mine is like a quagmire at the moment, it is open on some days, then rains again and it closes. Such wet weather, bring on the summer!!!!!

    Absolutely frustrating I joined a new top 100 course in December and have barely been able to get out - apparently the most rain ever since records began between october and March!

    I’ve never seen anything like it here in south east Ireland. It’s constantly raining and another storm heading for us this weekend. Even the links courses are struggling. Summer can’t come quick enough.

    Mine has stayed open for the majority of time although has had to close a couple of holes on the back 9. They've been closed more than open recently and quite wet but in good condition considering what's come down.

    It was supposed to be our Opening Day today for the new season.

    Course waterlogged, and has been most of the last month.

    I've never known it to be so wet, for so long.

    We are still very bad in places. Unfortunately we are on clay which isn’t draining well. Our 18th hole is terrible and so is closed which means that the 10th beside it which is less bad is also closed to allow traffic to and from the 11th/17th holes.
    Just as you think the course is beginning to firm up a bit, we get more rain

    I definitely feel your pain. Our course hasn’t been open fully much this year. Lots of temp greens, carry only and/or only the first 11 holes open.
    This weather has been brutal. We have quite heavy clay type soil where we are which is just a nightmare once it gets waterlogged.

    The weather has been mental over the winter period this year, I feel for all the green staff all over who are trying there best out on the courses to maintain and try and stay open. Fingers crossed we get a good dry spell soon. ️‍♂️

    In December 2023 alone, my home course had more days closed than it did over the entire winter of 22/23!
