Hey guys, long time lurker first time poster.

My SM10s in nickel finish are a few weeks old, absolutely love them. But I’ve noticed that as soon as it gets wet, by the time I’ve gotten home from the course there are rust spots on the face. Yesterday I played 18 holes in the sodding wet, rain throughout and my 60 degree has spots of rust all over the sole and the face - the pictures don’t do it justice. I always wipe my club with a towel after every shot and they are cleaned and dried when I get home.

Is this normal, should I be concerned? I know some people like the raw rusty look but my nickel babies are so fresh and clean looking I’d hate to see them rust after a bit of rain.

  2. If you play with them enough and diminish the covering which is usually a nickel plating in chrome you will expose the raw metal which will rust. This is normal.

The nickel is a coating, and the sole of the club takes a lot of abuse. Once the nickel coating wears through, it will expose the steel and will begin to rust.

Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback. I have only played perhaps 10 rounds worth since getting them so was surprised to see rust spots appearing so soon after getting wet.
