My prototype golf balls were as good as any of the Titleist balls I play on a regular basis. I tried identifying which Titleist ball I was playing both by dimple pattern and performance. I could not. While the dimple pattern and distance off the tee was similar to the AVX balls I have played, the spin and stopping power was more characteristic of the Pro V1x. Is it possible that the new AVX is going to provide the same distance as the current ball with the added benefit of improved spin into the green. That is going to help seniors and limited off-the-tee players of all ages.

If you’ve received 2026 prototype White Box golf balls over the summer, this is the official discussion thread to share your thoughts with the rest of Team Titleist.

We would specifically love to hear about the following performance characteristics:

    • Feel: putter, wedges, and full shots

    • Flight: launch, trajectory, and wind performance

    • Spin: short game control and stopping power

    • Distance & Consistency: off the tee and through the bag

    A few tips when posting:

    • Share your handicap or general skill level for context

    • Be specific (comparisons to your current gamer are helpful)

You are among the first golfers in the world to test this new golf ball, and your feedback is greatly appreciated in advance. We can’t wait to hear what you think!

I played the new prototype balls through a couple of rounds in lieu of my regular AVX. They were pretty similar in performance, but they did add alittle distance for the driver and they were great off the putter and on short chips. They had good trajectory on the longer irons. I did miss the softer feel of the AVX. I would play the prototype balls if they are available next year.
  3. I had the opportunity to put the 2026 prototype White Box ball into play yesterday, and it delivered the longest drive I’ve ever hit, 320 yards!!! The flight was ideal — strong, penetrating, and very consistent — with excellent wind stability. Spin off the tee was well-balanced, producing distance without sacrificing control.

Around the greens, the feel was responsive yet soft, providing reliable feedback on wedges and putts. Full shots offered a solid, confident strike, while short game control and stopping power were both impressive.

Overall, this ball feels like a strong step forward in distance and consistency while maintaining excellent touch. Early impressions leave me very encouraged.

  4. I received 2 sleeves of white proto balls before i left for Japan. I just played my second round with them, having lost a total of 3 of them over the course of 2 rounds. I'm an 18 living in Hawaii. Municipal courses here are hard fairways and softer greens (typically courses only water their greens). I play a mix of AVX, Tour Soft and srxn Q star balls. I played both rounds with a friend who is an 8 handicap. responses are our combined feelings.

Feel - The felt incredibly soft, good off the face on longer irons and woods and really soft on approach or chipping into the greens. Putting also felt very soft.

Ball Flight - Balls did a good job of limiting side spin but did balloon into the wind (already a problem for me but the ball definitely increased it).

Spin - these balls spun a ton, which while helping reduce penalties for chip shots that were hit a tad strong by not running off, most often this resulted in longer putts due to being used to playing roll out and really not getting any.

Distance/Consistency - These balls were definitely shorter than the normal ball we play (Q-Star and Tour Response Stripe). They did seem to limit side spin quite well as balls stayed in play a lot even on the worst mis hits. The feel and spin were something to behold, but I would have to get used to the shorter distances.

Overall it's a good ball, I'm VERY curious what line the ball is from and what the price point would be. At 39.99 these balls would be majestic, at $44.99 they would be good, at $50+ I don't think the feel is worth the distance loss.
