I love going out when it's cold and having the course almost all to myself. Unfortunately not going to happen for awhile with 12-14 inches of snow on the ground. Also not supposed to get above freezing in the next 14 days here.
  3. It’s very cold over here in the UK, It’s our Winter over here, But I still like to get out when I can to play a few rounds, It’s not ideal conditions, But still beats a day in work.

Way too cold for me. Once the ground is frozen, my outdoor swings are over for the year!

Looks perfect to us northerners who are stuck on the simulators!

If it ain't snowing, and it ain't blowing, I'm in for at least 9 holes. I walk to keep loose and warm, and I bring a knife to cut a slot into the frozen tee box so I can get the tee into the ground. It's a much more relaxed pace of play, as there are not that many others out there. Mostly just for fun rounds, as the ground is either frozen for a lot of bounce and roll, or thawed enough to plug the ball. Got to take special care on the greens. The surface is soft enough that the ball will tear the turf a bit at contact, but frozen underneath to prevent use of the divot tool. Just lay the strip back over the ball mark and press it down.

I'm a transplanted Michigander in Georgia. There was a time even 5 years ago, if they opened the course I would be there. Maybe I'm just old now, but if it's much below 45, I stay home. The grass is dormant, the lies are terrible, the weather is awful. I go to the golf course not to be miserable. Feels too much like work at that point.

I've only played once this month because the weather's been so bad. I would love to go, but this weekend is another loser with a high of 29 Saturday and 35 Sunday. Another week of waiting...

Love quiet courses, but our courses start closing 10/31 until Thanksgiving. Right now the local muni’s are open for cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
Checked in on your course after Thanksgiving Back nine looks good. So sad there was that much damage on the front nine.

We wait till about noon to tee off, on Tuesday it was 38 and light wind when we played. Going to tee off about noon tomorrow as forecast is for 40 degrees, after that we are probably going to be snowbound for at least a week

Looks great! I haven't had the chance to this winter yet. Played a couple solo rounds last year in the upper 30s low 40s and enjoyed it. Hope to be get out soon!

I can’t stand this cold weather, and it has been cold much too long and abnormally so for eastern North Carolina. I’d much rather go out on a day in the summer when it’s too hot for everybody else and have the course to myself. At my club any mid week mid day afternoons you can pretty much have it to yourself anyway. Very much enjoy solo rounds.

My weather conditions are just the opposite. Super crowded here in AZ in the winter. My favorite solo rounds come in the summer where I have our four courses to myself in the 110 degree afternoons.

Wish I had some about 110° weather right now.

  18. Our greens have been covered for about 10 days. It’s currently snowing, and less than 20 degrees. Very unusual weather for NC. Might not be on the course until mid February. The lack of winter golf is pretty darn miserable.

As long as the course is open I will play. Played with wind chill below 0 before. Its all about walking and wearing the right gear. Got 8 rounds in so far this year here in Titleist country. Looks like the snow will be around for a while. I am an optimist, Hoping by mid-end of February courses will be able to open again here in Southeastern Massachusetts.

Anything in the upper 30's-40's isn't too bad if it's not crazy windy, and it's nice being able to play multiple balls/shots into greens. More like an expanded practice session than a "round". Was able to get out back in January a couple of times but now that we've got snow not sure if I'll be out before April at this rate.

I am curious about all the golf that occurs in below freezing temperatures. Most courses around here have Bermuda grass on the greens and most oh those have to be covered at low temps. My course has A1/A4 Bent-grass and walking on them in freezing weather will kill the grass. What types of greens can you play freely on in 20* weather? Not that I would…..

If that temperature has a 2 or 3 in front of it, time to stay in side., plus throw in some wind, not really smart at all. Handwarmers are good inside of cart gloves, shoes and hats. Then that is still too cold. Guess that is my age showing.

Got spoiled the past few winters in the Northeast - mild temps and no snow allowed for plentiful winter golf. Not this year: sub zero windchills and a foot of snow on the course, limited to the simulator for the foreseeable future
